adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Lissy has been in a loving foster home since July 2024, where she is compassionately cared for and allowed to stay. There, she is closely accompanied and receives everything she currently needs. Even though she does not necessarily need a new home, we want to transparently share her story and current situation – because perhaps there are people who would willingly give a special dog like Lissy a second chance. The approximately 6.5-year-old female dog has already overcome several health challenges in her life. For example, a sticker tumor was treated, but it has left some late effects. Additionally, Lissy suffers from hepatozoonosis, which means she must be regularly examined by a veterinarian and closely medically monitored through blood tests. Due to her health condition, Lissy is physically limited and can only manage short, calm walks at the moment. She tires more quickly and needs a lot of rest, stability, and a stress-free environment. Despite everything, Lissy shows herself in her foster home as a friendly, gentle, and lovable female dog. She enjoys the closeness of her trusted people and accepts affection gratefully. Her joy in life is evident in small moments – in quiet moments when she simply gets to be there. Visually, Lissy is a beautiful female dog with white fur and brown markings, which immediately captivates through her calm gaze and gentle aura. For Lissy, we wish – should someone still fall in love with her – a very special second chance with experienced, sensitive people who are willing to continue her medical care. People who do not place any expectations on her but simply give her a safe, loving, and quiet home. Parallel to this, we are in need of support: The regular veterinary treatments, blood tests, and medical costs represent a significant financial burden. Additionally, she had a emergency operation in January. We are therefore very happy to receive donations for Lissy – you can find the donation link for the treatment costs of her emergency operation on our page. Lissy is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated and has an EU pet passport. She is named by Carry B, the namesake, who gave her the beautiful name and thus a unique identity. Here you can find a donation campaign for the treatment costs of an emergency operation for Lissy: As of 24.05.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Lissy

What life with Lissy looks like

Lissy is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lissy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lissy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lissy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lissy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lissy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lissy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lissy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
