Little Joe

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 8 months

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Little Joe has found a home! His story: Like his namesake from the famous TV series "Bonanza," our Little Joe is a handsome and cheerful young pup. However, he doesn't experience exciting adventures but sits alone and lonely in a cage at the Public Shelter in Baia Mare, waiting for a happy turn. We hope that soon loving people will come forward who will offer Little Joe a better life as a beloved family dog. We are sure that Little Joe will bring a lot of life and joy to his new family. Little Joe is a medium-sized male dog with a shoulder height of about 45 cm. He is only about 8 months old and has his whole life ahead of him. With his beautiful brown eyes, which are further emphasized by the pretty light facial markings and his short, tri-colored fur, he looks forward to the future with hopeful anticipation. Little Joe surely wants to experience much more, feel the wind in his face, and learn a lot of new things. At the shelter, the young male dog shows himself to be extremely friendly, trusting, and affectionate towards humans. He is lively and alert, very interested in everything and everyone, and gets along well with his fellow animals. However, Little Joe probably hasn't had any experiences as a family dog and will likely have to learn all the rules anew in his new home. But Little Joe is an intelligent, young male dog and will surely quickly understand what is expected of him. At his age, the pretty dog is currently going through puberty and will put the patience of his new humans to the test from time to time. But with a little bit of humor and much loving upbringing by his adopters, he will certainly come out of this important developmental phase as a balanced and reliable companion. After the adjustment period, we would recommend a visit to a positively working dog training class, because joint training of human and dog will strengthen Little Joe's self-confidence and the bond to his new owners. Have you fallen in love with the pretty young dog? Then contact us. The beautiful Little Joe can travel vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and neutered to his new home. We would also be very happy to have a foster home for Little Joe. However, the pretty Little Joe has a shortened tail and therefore cannot enter Switzerland. We thank the namings Claudia and Jörg B. who gave the young male dog his famous name and thus a unique identity. As of: 05.06.

Stand: 05.06.2024

About Little Joe

What life with Little Joe looks like

Little Joe is a medium-sized puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Little Joe, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Little Joe?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Little Joe on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Little Joe if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Little Joe already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Little Joe isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Little Joe and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
