Little Sue

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Meet our lovely girl Little Sue, a petite German Shepherd who is a young lady. Little Sue arrived in our care as a stray in a heartbreaking state, having clearly been neglected for quite some time. When she arrived, her coat was severely matted, she was extremely underweight and she had an infected dog bite wound to her face. She has been receiving veterinary treatment, including daily medication and careful cleaning of her wound, and she has taken everything in her stride. Little Sue is now gaining weight beautifully and is patiently waiting for a much deserved groom. Every day she grows in confidence and is beginning to enjoy exploring the world around her. She is making lots of new friends and has started discovering just how much fun toys can be. She is a bright little girl who is very food motivated, making her a great candidate for positive reward based training. As she continues to build her confidence and learn important life skills, she will thrive in a quiet, patient home where she can settle at her own pace. We feel Little Sue could potentially live with calm, sensible children aged 16+ following successful meets at the centre. She could also potentially live with cats, dogs and other animals, subject to successful introductions. Little Sue has already come such a long way, and with love, patience and understanding she is sure to blossom into a wonderful companion. If you are looking for a gentle soul who deserves a second chance, Little Sue may be the perfect addition to your family.

About Little Sue

What life with Little Sue looks like

Little Sue is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Cardiff Dogs Home.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Little Sue, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Little Sue?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Cardiff Dogs Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Little Sue on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Little Sue if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Cardiff Dogs Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Little Sue already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Little Sue isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Cardiff Dogs Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Little Sue and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
