Adopt Lizi

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 2 years

Lizi gave birth to her six puppies in an unusual place - on a cemetery. There, she sought refuge and protection for her small family until she was fortunately found and brought to safety. Now her puppies are old enough to go their own way, and Lizi too should begin a new chapter. She has put all her love into raising her little ones and now wishes for a home where she can belong. Lizi is a kind and friendly female dog who enjoys the company of people. She longs for a quiet, safe place where she can experience love and security and simply be part of a family. Glück für Pfoten e.V. - The way to a new life - Phone and email: As we are employed, we may get back to you after some hours. It's best to contact the above-mentioned mediator first by writing (by email or WhatsApp) and request a call back (don't forget to mention your phone number if necessary). Please be patient! Our animals travel with traces and are rehomed exclusively within Germany. If you are renting and would like to apply for a dog, please arrange a written certificate from your landlord that allows the keeping of a (further or new) dog. We rehome dogs, provided there is no elevator, up to the 2nd floor at maximum, in order to prevent health limitations.

About Lizi

What life with Lizi looks like

Lizi is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Glück für Pfoten e.V. in Dortmund.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lizi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lizi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Glück für Pfoten e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lizi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lizi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Glück für Pfoten e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lizi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lizi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Glück für Pfoten e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lizi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
