Lizzy

Mixed Breed · Female · Young · 3 years

Lizzy is a two-year-old (as of 12/2023) German Shepherd princess who came to Arca Sevilla a year ago - right in the middle of her adolescence. We originally thought she would quickly find a home with enthusiastic breed fans who would be fascinated by her quick learning ability, her tenderness and her willingness to make friends everywhere, but unfortunately Lizzy waited for a whole year in vain for someone to come and pick her up. Fortunately, we have experienced foster families in Germany who give selected Andalusians a helping hand and also gladly support the future families of their foster animals with advice and assistance. So Lizzy was able to travel from Seville to Rhineland-Palatinate in November 2023, where she is now discovering life as a house dog. Lizzy is not a street dog, she had a home in Spain. Unfortunately, her previous owner was mentally ill and his young female dog didn't experience much beauty. Lizzys owner often sank completely into his own world, left the desperate puppy alone in the apartment for days at a time, forgot to feed Lizzy, and from long walks - something that a dog of Lizzys age and build really needs - our beauty could only dream. The more Lizzy now benefits from her temporary home. In just a few weeks in the loving hands of our foster family, she has already learned a lot and shows that she is truly a team player, as typical for her breed. Lizzy adapts very well to her four-legged roommates and is now confident and safe with the other dogs in the house. She is reliably house-trained and loves exploring forest and field with her new friends. Therefore, we hope that Lizzy will continue to live in a rural area, where she can continue to train her great muscles by sprinting over logs and stones. Since Lizzy knows that car rides are usually associated with adventures, she is excited about every trip - and her enthusiasm can be quite contagious. Lizzy is a calm and sensitive female dog, which is very gentle to handle. Our tender lady cuddles devotedly and is happy with every affection. For German Shepherd lovers who want to explore the world with a new friend, Lizzy is certainly a dream dog. With her studious and curious nature, one could surely motivate the beautiful female dog for a career in dog sports - or simply for a responsible life as the goalkeeper of the family football team in the home garden. Lizzy just wants people who allow her to live as a beloved - and also a little spoiled - family dog, never to forget her again, never to neglect her .

DE·Show original

About Lizzy

What life with Lizzy looks like

Lizzy is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lizzy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lizzy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lizzy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lizzy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lizzy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lizzy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lizzy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
