Adopt Lloyd

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Adult · 7 years

Lloyd is a nearly 7-year-old German Shepherd/Labrador mixed breed who was born on October 3, 2018, in Moscow. He spent his entire life with his mistress in a house with a garden on the land. He is a quiet but also very watchful dog who wants to please his person and regularly fetches his blanket units. Especially after meals, he likes to get cuddles at his mistress's chest to support the little farmer. After that, he lies down. He prefers to lie where the ground is cool. A true Russian, indeed. He has a shoulder height of about 70 cm and weighs 46.5 kg (last weighed on 04.08.25). He knows basic commands like sit, stay, wait, and fetch. The latter refers to toys or his food bowls/Kongs. He usually brings these back on his own when they are empty. Lloyd can be left alone for hours without any problems. He is house-trained and does not bark much. Relatively, he gets used to immediate noises after some time and barks less. 😉 Lloyd’s mistress (my mother) passed away unexpectedly in July of this year, and so Lloyd now lives in a small rented apartment in Oldenburg and had to learn to walk on a leash because the garden here is not fenced. During our walks, he has already learned a few things, like waiting at crosswalks, sitting, and crossing on command. Lloyd gets very excited when he sees other dogs and then pulls a bit, which usually calms down after a few meters. Due to the fact that he only knows garden life, he is unsure when strange dogs are too close. From a distance, he only watches and can be encouraged to follow with a "come." The closer they get, the harder it is for Lloyd, and he pulls and barks, very stressed. Lloyd is in perfect health. He was last at the vet in August of this year. He is microchipped and registered with Tasso. There is also liability insurance for him that can be taken over. Lloyd brings all his things with him. Bed, toys, leash, dishes, etc. I am looking for a home with a garden or a yard for Lloyd where he can rest again. If there is interest in this wonderful Russian, please call me.

About Lloyd

What life with Lloyd looks like

Lloyd is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at ASPCA Friesoythe and surroundings in Saterland.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lloyd, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lloyd?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ASPCA Friesoythe and surroundings handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lloyd on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lloyd if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ASPCA Friesoythe and surroundings will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lloyd already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lloyd isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ASPCA Friesoythe and surroundings early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lloyd and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
