Lobo

Mixed Breed · Male · Puppy · 4 months

Open the door, dog out, door closed - there he was, the poor Lobo, who could only look from outside through the window into the house where his family began a life without him. Lobo had done nothing wrong; he had simply grown up. Lobo is now one and a half years old (as of 09/2022) and was bought by his family because a Sibirian Husky looks cool and as a puppy is a cute little fur ball that makes the whole neighborhood envious. But small fur balls quickly become teenagers with limited hearing and their own ideas about how to spend their day. When, like in Lobo's case, hours and days are filled with boredom, all dogs, but especially Huskies, become creative. They discover their singing talent, they focus on personalizing their living space and clothing, and they find ways to give their natural urge to move even in the smallest hut some space. Well, Lobo behaved exactly as a dog of his breed would in his age and under his living conditions, and for this he was harshly punished. Fortunately, neighbors noticed the sad male dog and ensured that Lobo came into the hands of animal welfare workers from Dolmen Animal. Lobo now lives with an experienced foster home, which speaks enthusiastically about the stylish and elegant young athlete. The cheerful pup has discovered his enthusiasm for toys and gladly shares his hobby with the other four-legged animals in the house. Lobo is a sociable and lovable companion who appreciates being with people who let him be a dog. For Lobo we are looking for a dog-experienced family, who may even have some breed experience. A sled dog is a wonderful companion, but he will always be different than, for example, a German Shepherd, and it would be nice if Lobo's new owners could already assess this or could attend dog training classes with him that help them develop the right team spirit. Of course, a dog like Lobo is also not a four-legged companion for couch potatoes, although he likes to cuddle and nap on the couch, Lobo is an endurance athlete who likes to be outside a lot and wants to use the muscles he can finally train. If you are ready to deal with the characteristics of a Nordic dog, if you like to run and hike, if you know how to throw a ball properly (and with a lot of conditioning), if you have fallen in love with our charmer's mischievous look and don't mind if Lobo joins in with his heroic tenor at the Christmas tree, then please get in touch with us - we look forward to seeing Lobo soon in his new home!

DE·Show original

About Lobo

What life with Lobo looks like

Lobo is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. in Gernsbach.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lobo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lobo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lobo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lobo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lobo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lobo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein ARCA e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lobo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
