Logan

Golden Retriever · Male · Adult · 4 years

I am Logan … and I am looking for people who understand me and not just the pretty dog I appear to be. I have a lot of experience behind me and I wish for a home where I am met with experience, clarity, and patience. Would you like to know more about me? I was secured for animal welfare reasons and was rehomed once before – but unfortunately, that didn’t work out. There was an incident where I bit someone. One must be honest: before that, my upbringing had already gone wrong, which is why I bit and ended up in the animal shelter. I am a confident dog who knows what I want – and if something doesn’t suit me, I make that clear. Therefore, I need people who are very sovereign and can give me the security that has been missing so far. I am house-trained, know the basic commands, and can travel by bus and train without a problem. I can also walk past other dogs – whether I am suitable as a second dog, one would have to look at individually. What I unfortunately do not like at all: grooming or being touched against my will – not even by my trusted people. One must accept my boundaries and take my experiences seriously. I defend my food and toys. Therefore, I need dog-experienced people who are familiar with such topics. With strangers, I am more skeptical and do not let myself be impressed easily. Children and cats should not live in the household, and please no hunting simulations for me. I am familiar with wearing a muzzle and in cohabitation, there should be no fear of using it more than necessary. I wish for … a quiet, dog-experienced home. Ideally with a single person or a very sovereign couple.

About Logan

What life with Logan looks like

Logan is a medium-sized adult golden retriever dog waiting at Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg in Berlin.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

Note from the shelter: Resource guards food and toys, bite history, requires muzzle training, sensitive to handling and grooming, needs behavioral management

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Logan, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Logan?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Logan on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Logan if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Logan already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Logan isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Berlin Falkenberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Logan and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
