Lois

Mixed Breed Cat Β· Female Β· Adult Β· 5 years

Meet lovely Lois, a five-year-old girl who has sadly found herself back in our care through no fault of her own.Lois has had a difficult time with changes in her circumstances, so she will need a little patience and understanding while she settles into her new home. When she first arrived at her foster home, she spent her first night hiding away, but by the following day her curiosity got the better of her and she ventured out to investigate her surroundings.Lois can still be a little shy and jumpy, and she enjoys having somewhere safe to retreat to. She can sometimes feel overwhelmed in enclosed spaces, so it’s important that she is given the time and space to settle at her own pace without feeling pressured.Once Lois feels comfortable, however, she has a wonderfully affectionate side! She loves nothing more than coming to sit on her foster carer’s lap for hours in the evening and happily snuggles up with them all night long. She’s a lovely reminder that sometimes the shyest cats have the biggest capacity for love.Lois previously had a full mouth extraction while in our care, and we’re pleased to say her mouth has now healed beautifully. She may occasionally dribble when she’s feeling particularly happy and content, which just adds to her charm! We feel Lois would be happiest in a quiet, adult-only home with a female adopter who can offer her the patience, reassurance and understanding she needs to flourish. In return, she has the potential to become a wonderfully devoted lit

About Lois

What life with Lois looks like

Lois is an adult mixed breed cat cat waiting at RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lois, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lois?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lois on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lois if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lois already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lois isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Northamptonshire Branch early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lois and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
