Lollo

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 8 years

Also at the LIDA shelter in Olbia, we were already eagerly awaited at the end of October during our project tour, as they wanted to introduce us to several new arrivals. Among these new arrivals was the friendly Lollo. He once had a home, but when his vision, due to bilateral glaucoma, diminished, no one wanted him anymore. How can one be so heartless to abandon a dog that lived in a family for years, just because he might go blind? Just then, our love and care are needed the most. Even though the shelter takes good care of the dogs and cats: it cannot be a substitute for a family. The constantly high noise level from the barking of many dogs, as well as the constant hustle and bustle, create lasting stress—no animal can relax in such an environment. And for a dog with impaired vision, this must be even worse when he is torn from a family and ends up in an environment full of noise. We therefore wish that Lollo can leave the shelter as soon as possible and travel to Germany to find love, security, and a home with loving people who will give him a permanent home with a close family connection. Would you like to take the lovable Lollo into your family? December 16, 2025: Lollo was allowed to travel to his German foster home. March 10, 2026: Lollo is a beautiful, small male dog in his prime, who has already settled in well at his foster home. Anyone who meets him there can hardly believe that his vision is severely impaired. With an infectious enthusiasm for life, he enjoys every walk and makes small leaps of joy as soon as it's time for his walk. He is a dog in the prime of his life, curiously exploring his environment, and impresses in everyday life with his tidiness and uncomplicated nature when driving. He also shows himself to be absolutely compatible with other dogs and cats. Despite his charm, the little gentleman also brings a fair share of stubbornness and an unknown, lively history. As his eyesight deteriorates gradually, he can sometimes lose his balance in moments of confusion. If he is startled—perhaps by a hand that suddenly approaches him, or in situations he cannot optically perceive in time—he may react unpredictably. In such moments, or when defending his food, he sets clear and physical boundaries, which require experienced and forward-looking guidance. Lollo therefore needs people who can give him the stability and clear, consistent structure he can no longer find with his eyes. Since he can react impulsively in stressful situations and needs a calm, predictable environment, Lollo should live in a childless household. With clear communication and patience, his behavior can be well directed. Those who are willing to adapt to Lollo's small peculiarities and offer him the necessary security will win a loyal and cuddly companion who trusts his people with his heart. If you are currently looking for a new furry family member and are aware that adoption brings not only great joy but also a lot of work and great responsibility, we look forward to your message. We provide foster homes nationwide.

About Lollo

What life with Lollo looks like

Lollo is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at ProTier e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lollo, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lollo?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. ProTier e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lollo on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lollo if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — ProTier e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lollo already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lollo isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with ProTier e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lollo and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
