adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Loona can stay in her Romanian foster home! Her story: The beautiful Loona is located on a private foster home in Romania, but she must leave as quickly as possible. It's not that these foster spots are homes, often the dogs also live in dirt and mud outside. Loona is no longer wanted and is to be rehomed. We would be happy to do this, hoping to find a better home for this wonderful nose. Loona is approximately 3 years old and about 60 cm tall. She is described as very loving, getting along better with female dogs than with male dogs. Since the beautiful Loona mainly lives outside, she will certainly need to learn family life with us. For this, we are looking for loving, empathetic people who will treat her with patience and give her all the time to adapt and settle in. Positive reinforcement training classes would certainly help her after a certain time. For Loona, we would prefer a rural environment, with a garden included, and places of retreat where she can observe her family from a quiet corner. Loona travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas to her new home. She will of course bring an EU pet passport with her. Who gives Loona the chance? She would also be happy with a foster home as a stepping stone. Many thanks Natalie P.! You gave Loona her beautiful name! Date: 20.01.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Loona darf in ihrer rumänischen Pflegestelle bleiben! Vielen Dank Natalie P.! Du hast Loona ihren schönen Namen geschenkt! Stand: 20.01.2023

About Loona

What life with Loona looks like

Loona is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loona, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loona?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loona on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loona if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loona already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loona isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loona and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
