Lotta

Female · Young · 1 year

- friendly - affectionate, cuddly - playful, lively - must be able to go outside - house-trained - will not be rehomed with dogs - will only be rehomed with children aged 8 and above - needs a quiet environment - needs time Lotta came to us as a found animal at the animal shelter. Now, the charming Maunz is looking for a forever home. Lotta is a friendly and loving cat who, after an adjustment period, greatly enjoys the company of her people. She is cuddly and delights in shared time. At the same time, she brings a playful and lively side to the table and loves to explore her surroundings curiously. Despite her open nature, Lotta needs time to get used to new people and a new environment. Therefore, we are looking for people who can give her the opportunity to settle in at her own pace and build trust. Once she has settled in, she shows herself to be a loving companion. For Lotta, outdoor time is an absolute must. She wants to explore her surroundings, enjoy fresh air, and follow her natural urge to move around. Therefore, she will only be rehomed in a home where she can go outside after an adequate adjustment period. Lotta is house-trained and seeks a quieter home. She will not be rehomed with dogs. Children should be at least 8 years old and understand that Lotta sometimes needs her space and time to adjust to new situations. For Lotta, we wish for loving people who can give her patience, safety, and affection. In a quiet home with outdoor access, she will develop into a loyal, cuddly, and cheerful companion who brings joy to her people.

About Lotta

What life with Lotta looks like

Lotta is a young adult cat waiting at Hamburger Tierschutzverein in Hamburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lotta, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lotta?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hamburger Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lotta on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lotta if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hamburger Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lotta already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lotta isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hamburger Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lotta and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
