Lotte

Female · Senior · 9 years

Lotte is looking for a new home. Lotte was born in July 2017 and is a 20 kg Greek Bracco mix. She is spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Lotte is a very people-oriented, affectionate dog who likes to please her humans. Indoors, she is now pleasantly quiet due to her age and sleeps most of the day. At the same time, she loves exercise and enjoys a long walk and two smaller potty breaks. She enjoys working and knows some tricks. She is very motivated by food. Her hunting instinct is not strong or has been well trained. Lotte can run free and is reliable to call back. She may be initially unsure around men and sometimes needs time to build trust. Once she has built this trust, she is a very loyal and affectionate companion. She is open and friendly to visitors - she would love to be thoroughly cuddled by everyone. Lotte currently lives with a toddler and is friendly and open to children. She enjoys playing with them and would love to spend time with them. She also currently lives with another dog. However, she decides on her own whether she likes other dogs, both in the household and when they meet on the go. Therefore, she would probably be happiest as a single princess in her new home. Cats, on the other hand, are not her friends, so no cats should live in the new home. Lotte travels well in the car and can stay alone for several hours after a suitable acclimatization phase. She needs clear, consistent guidance on a leash - leash training is a topic that Lotte likes to "discuss" sometimes. Therefore, we are looking for ideally experienced dog owners who work with her in a friendly, calm and consistent manner. Health-wise, she has a food allergy. Therefore, she is fed only with beef and copes well with it. Lotte is being given up exclusively due to a separation of her previous owners and the resulting difficult apartment search. The handover is not due to behavioral problems. We are looking for a loving, permanent home for Lotte with people who can give her clear guidance, enjoy her affectionate side and at the same time offer her the exercise and activity she loves. About Lotte

What life with Lotte looks like

Lotte is a large senior dog waiting at Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. in Remagen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lotte, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lotte?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lotte on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lotte if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Lotte already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lotte isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim u. Tierschutzverein Kreis Ahrweiler e.V. / Tierheim Remagen. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lotte and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
