Adopt Loui

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Loui is about 2 years old and a very quiet, gentle tomcat. In new situations, he initially seems uncertain and meets strangers with suspicion. However, if given the necessary time, he warms up at his own pace and shows his loving character. Loui gets along very well with other cats. It's especially nice to watch: after just a few days, he has become friends with Nova and cuddles up with her in the scratching post. This cute behavior shows how social and affectionate he is towards other animals. Loui is a truly lovable guy who brings a lot of harmony into the home with his calm nature. We are looking for a patient home where he is given time to settle in. A existing, friendly cat would certainly help him gain trust faster. But it would be best if he could move out together with Nova.

About Loui

What life with Loui looks like

Loui is a young adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Aurich (Animal Welfare Aurich e.V.) in Aurich.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loui, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loui?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Aurich (Animal Welfare Aurich e.V.) handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loui on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loui if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Aurich (Animal Welfare Aurich e.V.) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loui already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loui isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Aurich (Animal Welfare Aurich e.V.) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loui and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
