adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Loui has found a home! His story: Loui – a little heartbreaker – followed by bad luck. Should everything have turned out well? In early November, it seemed that happiness was so close, he was allowed to travel to Germany. But after a few days, the little Loui developed a high fever and convulsions and had to be immediately taken to the animal clinic, where he had to stay. He fought, was stabilized, and fortunately, was temporarily taken in by a loving foster family, but he can't stay there for long. Loui must continue to be medically monitored and his medication properly adjusted. The little Loui is curious, friendly, and seeks contact with people, and cuddles are not to be missed. One can quickly see that a strong need for closeness and affection lies within him. His bright, fluffy fur makes him seem even softer than he already is. Originally from Bistrita, Romania, Loui was rescued from an abandoned house along with three other siblings. Attentive people discovered the small litter and brought them to safety. In Romania, Loui got along well with other dogs, was social, playful, and showed openness in his interactions with his fellow animals. We can't rule out that he might have some hound genes. For Loui, we wish for loving people who can show him how wonderful a dog life can be. Who wants to walk this path with him and help him? Have you fallen in love with those sweet button eyes? Loui is microchipped, vaccinated, and brings an EU pet passport. Many thanks to Shannon, who gave Loui this sweet name and thus a unique identity. Status: 14.11.

Vielen Dank an Shannon. Du hast Loui diesen süßen Namen gegeben und ihm so eine eigene Identität geschenkt. Stand: 14.11.2025

About Loui

What life with Loui looks like

Loui is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Loui, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Loui?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Loui on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Loui if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Loui already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Loui isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Loui and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
