Louie

English Bulldog · Male

Meet Louie AKA Lou Lou our sweet French Bulldog who found himself in our care after being picked up as a stray. Louie is one of the sweetest boys you will meet and has so much love to give a new family. He can live in a home with older children aged 15 years upwards but no other dogs and cats. He is dog sociable but Louie loves to have all his handlers attention so we feel he will be much better placed in a home with no other dogs but still having that social interaction out of the home on walks or visiting dogs. As Louie came into our care as a stray we have no information as to whether Louie has been in a home before so adopters will just need to be prepared that he will need a little bit of time to adjust and settle into the new environment. We know he can't wait to find himself on a sofa where he can snuggle up with his new adopters. Louie has stolen the hearts of everyone that spends time with him and shows himself to be a confident sociable boy who loves everyone he meets. He can't wait to get into a warm home where he can cuddle up and be someone's centre of attention - could that be with you? Staff are here to ensure the animals find homes which suit their needs. Most animals in our care have not had the best start in life and may require special care or training. We will assess your experience and assist you in finding the right pet for your home. Although we want to start their new life with you as quickly as possible, our re-homing process can take a few weeks from start to finish. The process is as follows:

About Louie

What life with Louie looks like

Louie is a medium-sized adult english bulldog dog waiting at RSPCA Danaher Animal Home in Braintree.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Louie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Louie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. RSPCA Danaher Animal Home handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Louie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Louie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — RSPCA Danaher Animal Home will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Louie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Louie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with RSPCA Danaher Animal Home early rather than rehoming privately; they know Louie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
