adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Louise has found her people! Her story: Curtain up for Louise! She has been waiting in her foster home since mid-July for her new family. Louise is estimated to be around two years old and stands about 30 cm tall. We don't know her background, but she hasn't lost her trust in humans. Louise was found in Bologa, where she wandered the streets for a while. She was likely abandoned and had already had a family. From the start, she was house-trained and slept through the nights. The basics of leash training are already familiar to her – although more development is needed in this area. She gets along well with other animals and cats. She is initially a bit skeptical of unknown people. Once the ice is broken, she loves to be petted and cuddled. Even brushing her fur is something she enjoys. She wants to please and makes it very easy for people to win her heart with her slightly clumsy nature. She quickly bonds with her primary caregiver and wants to be with them all the time. Louise still needs to learn that she can relax and stay still when the human moves out of her sight. This requires patience, confidence, and a positively reinforced training style. During longer walks, she sometimes hobbles a bit, but she is currently not in pain. Louise is a uncomplicated little dream dog and would fit almost any family. Her small size means she can be everywhere, and she has already passed the difficult time of puberty. Louise is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and dewormed. She has an EU pet passport and will only be placed after a positive adoption process. Thank you, Sarah, for naming Louise. Status: 21.08.

Vielen Dank Sarah. Du hast Louise ihren Namen geschenkt. About Louise

What life with Louise looks like

Louise is a medium-sized young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Louise, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Louise?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Louise on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Louise if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Louise already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Louise isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Louise and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
