Louise und Annie

Female · Young · 1 year

Annie and Louise, two loving and playful sisters, are looking for a second chance at life. Born and raised on the streets, they were both heavily pregnant when they arrived at the shelter. So closely bonded that they even gave birth to their kittens in the same box at the same time. They should now start a new, better, and most importantly, safe life together. Annie has already learned how wonderful humans can be during her short time in human care. She forms a close bond with her human and really needs her trusted person. Sometimes, something can still make her very scared. When she hears her human's voice, she comes out, snuggles up to them, and the world is okay again. Even in new situations, she first stands protectively behind her caregiver before stepping forward alone. Annie needs a person who has a lot of time for her. She enjoys every form of attention, is always happy to be with her human, cuddles up to them, and loves it above all when you whisper sweet nothings to her. Not to mention that Annie is still a very young cat. She is still playful. She especially loves playing with feathers, so she loves it very much. But cuddling is definitely the main focus for her. She even follows her humans like a shadow. Louise, on the other hand, is still a bit of a wild child. The clever cat lady doesn't trust humans yet and needs her sister's support. She finds touching humans quite scary. But you can already put a bowl of food right in front of her without her running away, and she comes quite close for cooked chicken. In the evening, she also likes to join in with a safe distance. She needs time and patience and people who let her set her own pace. For now, she's doing really great considering she's only been in human care for a short time. We wish the sisters a quiet home, preferably in a rural area, but definitely traffic-free, so they can enjoy their freedom later. Experience with anxious cats would be great.

DE·Show original

About Louise und Annie

What life with Louise und Annie looks like

Louise und Annie is a large young adult cat waiting at Hamburger Tierschutzverein in Hamburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Louise und Annie, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Louise und Annie?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hamburger Tierschutzverein handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Louise und Annie on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Louise und Annie if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hamburger Tierschutzverein will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Louise und Annie already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Louise und Annie isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hamburger Tierschutzverein early rather than rehoming privately; they know Louise und Annie and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
