Adopt Lucky

Mixed Breed · Male · Young · 3 years

Lucky is a French bulldog mix, wary of people he doesn't know, especially men. He needs time, patience and help. He likes to play, run around, be petted, and spend time with us. Used to living both outside and inside, if there is a garden, the fence will need to be fairly high. He will need to learn to be alone. ℹ Adoption fee 270€ including identification, sterilization, first vaccination, internal and external deworming. Avoid dogs. Avoid cats. Arrived at the shelter in December 2024 Weight: 16 kg Click here, adoption questionnaire There is love in the air. In this month under the sign of the heart, staff and volunteers have come up with a tender gesture to highlight the animal they would have chosen to love for life, if they had had the possibility. "My little Lucky, You are my favorite reason to smile! For this Valentine's Day, I wish you to find a family with whom you will share your joy of living." Camille Dear Santa, My name is Lucky, a name that is beautiful, but does not mean "luck" in my case. At only 2 years old I have been at the shelter for already 1 year, my owner moved to an apartment and so I ended up here. I haven't known much in my previous life, I am discovering many wonderful people who want the best for me. After a wariness of strangers, I am gradually revealing myself and I keep evolving. I have learned what it means to love, I have become so cuddly, sometimes people even take me in their arms, I felt big! Often I hear people say, if only adopters could see you as I see you, they would be sure to have a crush! So I wait, I have fun on walks, sniffing in the grass, playing in the parks, going to the pools in nice weather, I love water! They describe me as a lively dog, always ready to follow my human for runs, long walks, I also know how to settle down, by my human's side, to be cuddled. I have learned to listen, I know how to sit, to pay attention to what is said to me. I am looking for a home without other animals, which will be able to restore my trust in humans, be present to reassure me and love me. I hope 2026 will be my year. Heart of the week My little lucky Your cute name, so adorable, unfortunately hasn't brought you luck. So young and already in a cage. The games with friends, the meetings with humans, all these important moments in a young dog's life, you haven't had them. Humans often fear what they don't know. It's the same for you. Jumping in your cage can surprise visitors, but all you want is to be seen. The first time I saw your little face, you made me melt. You have lots of energy, but when you are so young and confined, it's perfectly normal! You love going on walks, discovering new smells. The park is a bit like the garden you never had. You see all the friends but you don't know how to play with them... it's not easy when you've been cut off from the world. It makes me sad for you but I know it's never too late, and everything can be learned with patience and time. So much to discover, to live! As we go out more and more, you gradually give your trust and come looking for the tenderness you so badly need. You need time, patience and above all a lot of love. You have so much to give! Even though I know our big outings are a breath of fresh air for you, I return you to your cage with a tight heart. You finally deserve a gentle family, who will give you the chance to show who you really are: a little lucky with a big heart. Your godmother who loves you.

Tu en as tant à donner !

About Lucky

What life with Lucky looks like

Lucky is a young adult mixed breed dog waiting at SPA du Gers in France.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucky, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucky?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA du Gers handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucky on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucky if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA du Gers will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucky already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucky isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA du Gers early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucky and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
