Adopt Lucy

Mixed Breed · Female · Kitten · 4 months

What a little fire cracker our little Lucy is. Even when she's asleep, the minute she hears you come into the room she'll be up to greet you and wanting to play. Lucy loves almost any toys, especially chasing a feather wand, but be warned, she could play with you for hours and you'll be exhausted long before she is! Lucy is an absolute darling with a beautiful coat and a cheeky little face full of mischief and love. Lucy’s start to life was difficult, as she was separated at a few weeks old from her mother and siblings. As a result, Lucy hasn't yet fully developed the social skills she would normally have with her mum's guidance, and she tends to play-bite when playing as she wasn’t shown by her mum or siblings what is acceptable. She means absolutely no harm, and as a kitten it doesn’t really hurt, but a young child may feel that more and be afraid and therefore we would not recommend a family with young children to adopt her. We're looking for an understanding person or family who will not be deterred and can give her the love and gentle direction she needs. In between playing, she'll stop and let you know she loves you and appreciates you and will fill your heart with joy as you watch her play. She desperately wants to make friends but is still learning how to be in polite society – trust us – she more than makes up for her naughtiness with the joy she brings to the household. About Lucy

What life with Lucy looks like

Lucy is a puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Hounslow Animal Welfare Society in United Kingdom.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Hounslow Animal Welfare Society handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Hounslow Animal Welfare Society will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Hounslow Animal Welfare Society early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (the shelter's own language). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
