Lucy

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

female Abandoned/Foundling Born 2021 EKH neutered yes / [] no In the animal shelter since 25.04.2026 ________________________ We test every cat with a quick test for FIV ("Cat AIDS", more info here!) and FeLV ("Cat Leukemia", more info here!) and clarify the status. We inform about the risk of FIP disease ("Feline Infectious Peritonitis"). ________________________ The sweet Lucy was abandoned because she became unsuitable and also showed problems with her sister cat. Lucy is a hand-reared and unfortunately it often happens with cats that were raised without a mother or separated too early, that they have socialization breaks and develop "neurotic" behavior like this. We believe that she will be much more relaxed in a new home under different circumstances. Lucy is a shy and very sensitive cat who shows clingy, loving, and snuggly behavior towards her humans. She would like to "curl up" in a lap after the first meeting when stroked. Lucy loves attention but does not want to be too wild or cluttered at home. We are looking for people who will meet her gently and affectionately. To give her a "vent", she should be accustomed to a freeranging environment in a cat-appropriate setting in her new home. Cats are social animals. Unfortunately, we cannot accurately assess the conflicts or tensions between Lucy and her sister, but Lucy is now primarily seeking a place as an individual cat (with freeranging). We are also open to the possibility that she could move in with an existing, relaxed, and compatible fellow animal. Lucy is totally overwhelmed by the current situation and we wish her that she finds a very nice home soon! ________________________ (As of 31.05.2026) (Click on the images to see them in full size!) The description reflects the current status, but we reserve the right to make changes or new assessments. It can always happen that an animal shows or develops differently due to changed circumstances both here in the animal shelter and in the new home. Tags:. About Lucy

What life with Lucy looks like

Lucy is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Marburg in Marburg.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Marburg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Marburg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Marburg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
