Lucy

Female · Young · 1 year

Meet Lucy – Queen of the Castle (and Probably Your Heart!)Lucy is a gorgeous one-year-old Oriental Cross with striking looks, a huge personality, and absolutely no intention of pretending she's anything other than royalty! Like many Orientals, Lucy likes to keep people guessing. She can be a little aloof when you first meet her and is quite particular about who gets to join her inner circle. The good news? She's very open to negotiations involving Lick-e-Lix and her all-time favourite snack... Dreamies! Bribery is absolutely accepted. Lucy loves a fuss—but only when she's the one handing out the invitations. She's not a fan of being chased for cuddles, preferring instead to stroll over when she's decided it's time for affection. Respect her rules, and you'll soon discover what a lovely companion she can be. This adventurous young lady dreams of a rural home where she can spend her days exploring the great outdoors. One small warning: Lucy is an exceptionally proud hunter and fully expects you to admire the "presents" she brings home. If you're a little squeamish, you may need to perfect your best "Oh... thank you, Lucy!" face! When she's not out on patrol, Lucy loves nothing more than surveying her kingdom from on high. A tall cat tree is an absolute must, giving her the perfect throne to keep an eye on everything happening in her home. Lucy is looking for a home with someone who appreciates cats with character—someone who understands that the best friendships are earned, not rushed. Give her the space to be herself, plenty of adventures, a tall perch, and a steady supply of Dreamies, and you'll be rewarded with the company of a wonderfully quirky, entertaining and affectionate little lady. Could Lucy be the queen you've been waiting to welcome home?

About Lucy

What life with Lucy looks like

Lucy is a extra-large young adult cat waiting at Animal Concern Cumbria in Egremont.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Animal Concern Cumbria handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Animal Concern Cumbria will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Animal Concern Cumbria early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
