Adopt Lucy

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Lucy is a small, young and very curious female dog. Although she is interested in the world and people, she is one of those little dogs that simultaneously want contact and are a bit afraid of it. Fortunately, Lucy is a real food lover - treats are the best way to her heart and help in building a relationship. In the shelter cage, she is together with Nala, with whom she came to the animal shelter. It's hard to say if they are mother and daughter or if the fate just made them stay together, but one thing is certain - they feel very good in each other's company and are each other's mutual support. Together it is easier for them to open up to the world. Lucy readily approaches the bars separating her from a person - then she allows herself to be petted and gladly accepts the treats. However, when the safe barrier disappears, she retreats and is no longer as eager for affection. This is a delicate female dog who needs time, patience and understanding to fully trust a human. We are looking for a quiet home for Lucy, which will give her space to build her confidence and show her that the world can be safe. There is a good chance that in a home environment, by her human's side, she will open up much faster. It would be ideal to find a shared home for her with Nala, although we know that this is just a dream.

About Lucy

What life with Lucy looks like

Lucy is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Fundacja Puszatek in Warszawa.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇱Adopting from Poland

Polish shelters maintain established transport routes to Germany, Netherlands, Austria, and Sweden. Animals leave sterilized and chipped. Adoption fees are typically lower than in Western Europe (often €50–€150) but adopters cover transport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucy, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucy?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Fundacja Puszatek handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucy on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucy if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Fundacja Puszatek will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucy already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucy isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Fundacja Puszatek early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucy and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PL). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
