Lucy (vermittelt)

Female · Senior · 10 years

Regarding the provided data on age, it often involves estimated values as we don't always know the exact age. Other details like size are subjective. Lucy Born April 2014 Gender female dog Breed Mix Size will likely be medium Foster home Lucy has already settled into her new family. 😉 Report Lucy has been with us for about two weeks and has quickly adapted to our daily routine. She is a super sweet, cuddly little mouse who loves to spend time with people. When you pet her, she luxuriously closes her eyes and melts into a heap. Lucy is already house-trained and can stay alone for several hours without any problems. She spends her nights quietly and relaxed in her dog bed in the living room. With our cat, there are no issues. Lucy accepts that she needs her space. On walks, I experience Lucy as very pleasant, as she is well leash-trained. She sometimes runs a bit cross and crisscross, but this is improving, and she doesn't pull at all. She also responds reliably to her name and the command "come" outside on the leash. Upon my arrival, she is happy with both treats and cuddles. Lucy is curious but also cautious about new things. If something seems suspicious to her, she barks briefly and needs a reliable lead. Due to her emerging insecurity in new, unfamiliar, and initially not assessable situations, children should be a bit older (around 10 years). Overall, she only barks in situations that unsettle her, but not otherwise. (yet;) Lucy is relaxed to curious around other dogs. She submits to being led, but can also communicate when something is too much for her. Driving works well for her over the last two days; she even jumps into the car by herself now. She is truly a wonderful little mouse! Lucy is a particularly sweet little mouse. She was dropped off at the animal shelter in Santorini one day. This animal was surrendered to the shelter.

About Lucy (vermittelt)

What life with Lucy (vermittelt) looks like

Lucy (vermittelt) is a small senior dog waiting at Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. in Zornheim.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lucy (vermittelt), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lucy (vermittelt)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lucy (vermittelt) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lucy (vermittelt) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lucy (vermittelt) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lucy (vermittelt) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein Second Chance Dogs e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lucy (vermittelt) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
