Adopt Luis

Mixed Breed · Male · Kitten · 8 months

Hello dear animal shelter – Team, here is your Luis and I moved out of your animal shelter 8 months ago. Why did I only get in touch now? Well, I needed a bit of time to thaw out, and now I’m making the woods and fields around the house unsafe :-). When I arrived, I first hid under the corner bench and my new humans kept looking for me and offered me lots of treats. So I decided that I like them :-). Shortly after, a big black tomcat came in to check me out and showed me who was the boss here! After two months, I settled in well and then slipped out through the cat flap. For three weeks, I was out and about, and my new humans called after me constantly, so I ended up going back home. My Frauchen then cried with relief, so I decided not to stay away for so long. Now I’m enjoying my life here at the edge of the woods, and the black tomcat – Morli, he’s called – now likes me very much and waits for me when I come home from my excursions :-). The best thing for me is snuggling, being stroked, and playing. And of course, eating! I feel well here and don’t have so much fear anymore :-). With the little Luis, we are now finally complete. Our Camillo, who sadly passed away, sent us this sweet treasure, and every day he gives us his love and trust. Morli, whom we also picked up from your animal shelter, has found his joy in Luis, and the two of them are enjoying their time together. We could not be happier and thank you very much for your great work!

About Luis

What life with Luis looks like

Luis is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed cat waiting at Tierheim Starnberg in Starnberg.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luis, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luis?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Starnberg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luis on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luis if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Starnberg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luis already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luis isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Starnberg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luis and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
