adoption requirements adoption process Adopt now this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Luke can travel directly to his final destination! His story: Luke and Leya are ready to embark on new adventures. The two adorable puppies were found by the roadside near a friend of our animal rescuer Flavia, just in time before they might have fallen victim to passing vehicles. Their lifesaver didn't hesitate and took them both in. Now they are in safety and searching for a home. Both are simply cute and friendly. They are puppy-type playful and practically beg for attention and cuddles. But even though Luke likes to cuddle, one can also see that he, like his namesake from Star Wars, is ready for big adventures. With his white-pawed, tentative paws, the little dark-haired boy likes to go on adventures, would you like to accompany him? Luke gets along well with other dogs, but whether that also applies to cats, we cannot say. It is likely that Luke will remain small. Luke is looking for people who won't have too many expectations of him and will show him how a normal dog life works. He is still a baby and has a lot to learn. One or another mishap shouldn't be held against him and Luke should always be guided with a positive training style. He is already looking forward to his new life with beautiful nature walks, many snuggling hours, and also a visit to puppy school. Puppies should not be left alone as much as possible in their first year of life. Additionally, the more demanding pubertal phase is approaching. The hormone chaos turns the lives of the little rascals upside down. They "forget" often everything they have learned so far and their ears are on full alert. Therefore, it is especially important in this phase to be consistent— but lovingly—trained. And there is also good news: This phase will pass! At 4 months, Luke can start his big journey. Then he will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated, with his EU pet passport in hand. Stand: 05.10. But also a foster home would be an option for a happy future. Thank you, Janina J.! You gave Luke his name and thus an identity.

Stand: 05.10.2024

About Luke

What life with Luke looks like

Luke is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luke, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luke?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luke on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luke if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luke already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luke isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luke and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
