Lulu

Mixed Breed · Female · Puppy

Mixed-breed Lulu—cuddly young female dog is looking for her forever home. Lulu had actually already thought she’d found her home. Unfortunately, she now has to start searching for her people all over again. Lulu isn’t a dog who’s done anything wrong. She’s a young female dog right in the middle of her development, and she needs people who are ready to continue guiding her and learning together with her. After all, this young dog already brings with her many qualities you’d hope for in a companion. Lulu is very cuddly, loves being close to her people, and thoroughly enjoys every bit of attention she can get. At the same time, she’s still full of zest for life and a playful spirit—just like any typical young dog. Inside the house, Lulu shows herself to be pleasant and calm. She settles down easily and has already learned quite a lot. She’s doing surprisingly well when left alone, and her house-training is also making great progress. She walks nicely on the leash as well. Lulu gets along well with calm children, and cats are completely natural parts of her everyday life. However, outside, it becomes clear that Lulu is still very much in the midst of her development. Right now, she likes to loudly comment on encounters with people or other dogs. Here, she needs people who can give her security, continue training with her, and help her learn to view the world with more composure. Lulu would be a good fit for people who enjoy helping a young dog grow and develop further—and who understand that a young dog still has plenty to learn and that challenges are part of the shared journey. She’d probably feel especially comfortable in a home where she could help guard a garden or yard—a task she’d take on with great enthusiasm. Like any (young) dog, Lulu comes with responsibilities. She’s not a fully grown dog yet; rather, she’s a young personality who still needs guidance and support. But if you’re up for it, you’ll receive above all one thing: a dog with the potential to become a wonderful companion and lifelong friend. Click here for Lulu’s video.

About Lulu

What life with Lulu looks like

Lulu is a large puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. in Germany.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lulu, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lulu?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lulu on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lulu if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lulu already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lulu isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SALVA Hundehilfe e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lulu and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
