Adopt Lumpi

Male · Senior · 13 years

Our Lumpi is looking for a "retirement basket"! Personality: Lumpi is very affectionate with his favorite humans. Despite his age, he loves playing with a ball and taking nice walks. Ideal environment and home: Lumpi will fully enjoy his retirement in a countryside environment with access to walks through fields and forests. A single person or a couple without children would be his ideal home. Lumpi must be welcomed in a family where he will be the only pet. He will also need a house or apartment with a large fenced garden. Compatibility: Lumpi does not get along at all with other animals of the same species! He does not tolerate cats and other animals. As for humans who are not part of his family, all necessary precautions must be taken to ensure a good meeting. He is very exclusive! Special needs: A follow-up with a professional in the canine world must be set up so that our Lumpi can fully enjoy his retirement without stress. Lumpi must be on a leash everywhere except in his secured garden. If you think you can offer Lumpi his dream "retirement basket," we would be delighted to meet you! If you are interested, please complete the online form "request - interest in adopting a dog." If the criteria explicitly required in the presentation texts for the dogs are not respected, no further action will be taken on the adoption request. Please also read our placement philosophy. About Lumpi

What life with Lumpi looks like

Lumpi is a small senior dog waiting at SPA Fribourg in Font.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇨🇭Adopting from Switzerland

Swiss shelters require a home visit (Platzkontrolle) and proof of suitable accommodation. Cantons each have their own additional dog-keeping requirements (e.g. SKN training in some areas). Animals leave sterilized and chipped.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lumpi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lumpi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. SPA Fribourg handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lumpi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lumpi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — SPA Fribourg will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lumpi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lumpi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with SPA Fribourg early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lumpi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
