adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Peace and contentment, wonderful Lumpi… His story: Lumpi was simply brought to the public shelter Baia Mare because no one wanted him and no one cared about him. Where he came from and what he has experienced so far, we unfortunately do not know. But what we do know is that he is an absolute cuddly teddy bear who simply wants to belong. In mid-February, Lumpi was allowed to travel to a foster home, where he turned into an absolute dream dog. He is about 10 years old and, considering his age, a rather quiet and modest dog. With a shoulder height of around 60 cm, Lumpi is one of the larger dogs. He has half-long, light fur, funny little ears, dark eyes, and a glossy black nose. With the love and care of his foster home and good food, Lumpi has developed into a true beauty and has already put a smile on many faces. Our senior has wrapped his foster home around his quiet and relaxed nature in no time. Additionally, he is a true cuddle bear who would rather be stroked or brushed all day. He also gets along well with his fellow animals and likes to go for walks with them. On the leash, he also does great, and he also likes to ride in the car. In his foster home, Lumpi was even allowed to meet some cats, which, however, did not interest him at all. Based on his appearance, we suspect that he is a mixed breed of herding dog. But just like with our Lumpi, life has not passed him by without a trace. Considering his age, his body is slowly breaking down, and there are a few physical projects that are causing him some trouble. Lumpi has a tumor in his eye, which is why he can no longer see as well. Spondylosis and heart problems are also suspected and are currently being clarified. Additionally, he has trouble climbing stairs, which is why we are looking for an apartment for our teddy that is ground-floor, ideally with an enclosed garden where he can bask in the sun. Lumpis' new family should have a lot of time for the friendly male dog, because he wants to enjoy the second half of his life and make up for all the beautiful things that were denied to him in his sad life as a street dog. Do you have a desire to give our cuddly senior a forever home? Then contact us. He will come to his new home microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for fleas with an EU pet passport. Due to his age, he is not neutered. For Lumpi, we are looking for a place of mercy, so he will be rehomed without an adoption fee. We are very grateful to Nadine C., who gave Lumpi his name and thus a personal identity. Many thanks to Monika K.! You are supporting Lumpi with a monthly sponsorship! Likewise, a big thank you to Kerstin M., who also supports the great guy with a monthly sponsorship. As of: 13.03.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Ruhe in Frieden, toller Lumpi… Stand: 13.03.2025

About Lumpi

What life with Lumpi looks like

Lumpi is a large senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lumpi, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lumpi?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lumpi on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lumpi if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lumpi already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lumpi isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lumpi and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
