Adopt Luna

Female · Adult · 5 years

Luna was abandoned and rescued in 2022 and has lived in a foster home ever since. Weight: 5 kg Rescue Story in brief as told by her rescuer: “I found Luna in October 2022 in front of my apartment building. She seemed disoriented, like she was trying to figure out where she was and also looking for food. It was clear to me that this wasn’t her territory so I took her in and posted her on Facebook hoping that the owner who lost her would find her. Nobody claimed Luna, but two months later a woman contacted me and told me she knew the cat and that it belonged to her neighbours, who lived in a completely different neighbourhood, miles away. The neighbours had got two pedigree dogs and unfortunately didn’t want Luna anymore. Luna’s misfortune didn’t stop here. A few months after rescuing her from the street, I found a home for her, but after staying there for a few months, the adopter decided she couldn’t keep Luna anymore because she said she didn’t get along with her other cat. So I took her back and she’s been living in foster care along with other cats ever since. My efforts to find a forever home for her didn’t stop there, but unfortunately nobody seemed to want her due to her common appearance. She doesn’t have a physical disability or health issues, she’s just unwanted here.” Temperament details: “From the very first time I took Luna in, she has proved to be very adaptable. Wherever I put her, she acted like she had been there before. She didn’t hide, didn’t scare or meow. She isn’t the type of cat that gets scared by noises or new people and hides under the bed. In fact, Luna is a pretty independent and discreet pet. Sometimes you don’t even realize you have a cat in the house. She’s not a kitten, so her energy level isn’t that high. She’s moderately playful, sometimes playing with one of the male cats and if you find a toy that she likes, she can play with that for a little while. But mostly, she likes to look out the window and eat. She adores wet food and devours it in a heartbeat. It’s the best way to win her over. Being the independent and discreet lady cat that she is, she’s not too clingy. She comes to you when she wants affection, would cuddle in your lap when you sit down. But she doesn’t need constant attention. The perfect home for Luna would be a quite place where there aren’t other cats. While she has become used to living with multiple cats, she’s not happy. It makes her feel like there’s no room for her. She has become more reserved because of the other cats in the foster care home. For example, she would come to me looking for affection, and if another one of the cats would also come to be petted, Luna would immediately withdraw and give up. She also doesn’t like when the other cats get into her personal space and may give a swat or hiss to set boundaries. This behaviour isn’t due to aggression, but to Luna’s gentle and sensitive nature. She doesn’t compete for attention and prefers to quietly step aside rather than assert herself. In a calmer, cat-free home, she would likely feel safe enough to fully show her affectionate side. If necessary, though, I have noticed that she’s more comfortable around male cats than female cats, even sometimes playing with them. But not around kittens or highly energetic cats that constantly invade her personal space. Luna hasn’t interacted much with dogs, so I’m not sure how that would go long term, but she would probably be very frightened in the beginning. She doesn't attack them, she just acts scared. Calm, older dogs may be okay once she gets adjusted.” Luna has been in foster care since she was rescued. She needs a forever home.

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a small adult cat waiting at Miracle in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇬🇧Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Miracle handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Miracle will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Miracle early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
