Luna

Mixed Breed · Unknown

Luna and her two siblings were brought to us with the help of a familiar animal welfare organization. All three had been wandering in the wilderness, from where they were caught with great difficulty. We do not know what their past was like, but one thing is certain: their trust in people has been deeply shaken. When they arrived, they hardly dared to come out for days. Every approach, every new sound and movement filled them with fear. It was painful to see how much they feared human proximity, which is natural and reassuring for many other dogs. Since then, Luna has also developed a lot. Today she watches curiously, and although she does not really initiate anything on her own, the presence of her siblings gives her courage - at such times she also follows events with curiosity and slowly opens up to the world. We are looking for a guardian for Luna who is aware that the trust of a shy dog cannot be built overnight. Time, patience and a lot of understanding will be needed for her to open up completely. There will be small steps forward and quieter periods as well, but every step taken together brings us closer to a close bond. If someone can accompany Luna on this path, they will receive a special reward: a lifelong loyal companion who, once opened up, binds to the person's heart with full heart.

HU·Show original

Luna két testvérével együtt került hozzánk egy ismerős állatvédő szervezet segítségével. Mindhárman a pusztában kóboroltak, ahonnan nagy nehézségek árán sikerült őket befogni. Azóta Luna is sokat fejlődött.

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a medium-sized adult mixed breed dog waiting at Állatvédelmi Centrum in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Állatvédelmi Centrum handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Állatvédelmi Centrum will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Állatvédelmi Centrum early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
