Luna

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 5 years

Luna is a playful and mischievous female dog who knows exactly what she wants. In her familiar environment, she shows herself attentive, able to learn and quite cooperative when approached with calmness and clear communication. She takes great joy in working together with her human and brings both motivation and a good dose of independence to the table. Luna is generally compatible with other dogs but becomes aggressive on leash. Here at the shelter, she lives 24/7 in a mixed-gender dog group and does very well there. As a typical herding dog mix, she tends to intervene controllingly when there's a lot of activity. With the right guidance and relationship work, she can develop into a reliable and very pleasant companion - once you've established standing and a good relationship level with her, she is an amazing dog.In everyday life, Luna needs a structured environment as well as confident people because:Luna tends to socially motivated aggressive behavior and would actively shield strangers and dogs from her owner if not led consistently. She shows clear resource-based food-motivated aggression towards other dogs and also humans when the relationship level is off. In the past, she has also defended her sleeping areas and entire rooms from people.Even with physical manipulation, depending on the relationship level, she can show her 42 arguments.Luna will only be placed in a household without children or cats or small animals.People who are willing to work with her consistently and professionally and set clear boundaries are sought after. If you're interested in getting to know this mischievous whirlwind, please don't hesitate to contact us!

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a large adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierheim Lübeck in Lübeck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Dogs and cats typically leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with an EU pet passport.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Lübeck handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Lübeck will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Lübeck early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
