Adopt Luna

Mixed Breed · Female · Adult · 6 years

Now, little Luna has been in the foster home for half a year. So far, the right home has not been found. However, Luna is really great. Her initial problem with snapping has completely resolved due to the trust that has developed. Walking with her is really fun. We are looking for a home for Luna without children and in an area without leash laws, so she can continue to run freely. Anyone who can give Luna a permanent home and wants to meet her can contact the foster home by phone. ________________________________________________________________________________ Luna has developed wonderfully in the foster home and has truly blossomed. The cats like her very much, and she has also made a friend with the dog at her holiday accommodation. Living with cats and a nice dog is definitely possible. However, Luna also bonds closely with her human, so she can also manage without animal companions. Meanwhile, she is allowed to walk without a leash because she listens very well. For Luna, we are looking for people who will be very sensitive with her, so she does not lose her trust and sense of security again, and who can cater to her sensitive nature. It is better if there are no children living with her. Anyone who would like to meet this lovely female dog or has questions about her can call the number. ________________________________________________________________________________ Luna is looking for a wonderful new home. The little Luna, 6 years old, neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated, is looking for a new home where her humans can provide her with security. Luna can stay alone well, gets along great with cats and dogs, walks easily on a leash, and can be taken anywhere, although she is quite shy and enjoys car rides. However, she does not like being "fussed over" and makes it clear. A joint solution still needs to be found here. Anyone who would like to meet Luna can contact Stephanie Musik by phone.

Tierart Geschlecht Vermittlungsstatus medizinisches

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tierschutzverein OHZ e.V. in Osterholz-Scharmbeck.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierschutzverein OHZ e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierschutzverein OHZ e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierschutzverein OHZ e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
