Luna

Staffordshire Bull Terrier Β· Female Β· Young Β· 2 years

Luna is a very nervous girl, especially around men, we think that Luna would be more comfortable in a home with no men. She is getting a little more confident with male staff and volunteers but is still very nervous initially. If a potentially family was willing to come and meet her daily to build up trust then we could consider her going to a home with men. Luna is getting more confident each day and with the staff she trusts is very loving towards them. She loves to say hello, wagging her tail and giving out kisses. Luna loves her treats which is beneficial when it comes to training. She will need on going training to help build up her confidence, she did come in as a stray so we aren’t sure of her history or if she has lived in a home before. Any potential home will need to have experience with rescue dogs and/or bull breeds. Multiple meets will be necessary too. A quiet, patient home will be the most suited to Luna. She is going to need a lot of time to be able to come out of her shell and show her true personality. Luna needs to be in an adult only home, no children visiting.

About Luna

What life with Luna looks like

Luna is a medium-sized young adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Cheshire) in Warrington.

A young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" β€” quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures β€” to let them settle.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Luna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Luna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Cheshire) handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Luna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Luna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Cheshire) will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Luna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Luna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Manchester & Cheshire Dogs Home (Cheshire) early rather than rehoming privately; they know Luna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
