adoption requirements adoption process Adopt this animal now! adoption requirements adoption process Lupin has found a sanctuary! His story: Lupin is already at least 10 years old and therefore in senior age. He is now searching for a home where he can spend his remaining years in peace. We wish so much that he doesn't have to spend these years in the shelter. Our little doggy lived with a woman in Romania, who unfortunately had to give him up due to psychological problems. Therefore, he has to readjust to a new home at an advanced age and hopes for a loving family with a comfortable dog bed. Who can help and fall in love with the sweet and charming Lupin? In his new home, no other dogs or cats should live, as Lupin has unfortunately already gone blind and reacts fearfully to moving objects. Additionally, he suffers from severe skin problems, which are particularly visible in the back and buttocks area, and has already undergone a hernia operation. Despite all this, our Lupin is a beautiful, small male dog, who with his black-and-white patterned fur and cute, floppy ears has a lot to offer. With his small size and advanced age, he is the ideal companion for people who want a more quiet and comfortable life and can spend a lot of time at home with their four-legged friend. Even though Lupin has already experienced a lot with his previous owner in Romania and is already a senior at 10 years old, we must not forget his past. One must always keep in mind that a new environment and new people can be stressful for a dog, and every dog handles this new situation differently. Here, he needs people who approach him with love and patience and give him time to adjust. After a certain period of adjustment, it can also be worthwhile to attend positive dog training classes with him. A dog training class is also a great way to strengthen the bond between two and four-legged beings. And if you manage the initial phase, Lupin will definitely be a great companion for life. Lupin is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea treated. He brings an EU pet passport with him and can be adopted after a positive foster home experience. We would be very happy to have a foster home for the sweet man! Who will give him a loving home where he can spend his remaining years in security? Many thanks to Barbara! You gave Lupin his name. Vielen Dank an Barbara! Du hast Lupin seinen Namen geschenkt. Stand: 12.10.2024

About Lupin

What life with Lupin looks like

Lupin is a medium-sized senior mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lupin, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lupin?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lupin on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lupin if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lupin already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lupin isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lupin and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
