Introduction: Heartbreaker on Four Legs: Name: Lupita Breed: Perdigueiro Gender: male Size: approx. 53 cm Age: 15.06.2017 Weight: approx. 20 kg Child-friendly: Yes, gets along well with fellow animals: Yes gets along well with cats: must be tested neutered: Yes Vet Information: microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, EU-Pass Mediterranean Test: negative Remarks: Campo Maior Current Location: Spain Euro incl. transport last update: June 2026 Lupita is looking for her forever home! This is Lupita – a beautiful, black female Perdigueiro dog with a heart in the right place. Since 2024, she has been waiting in Perrera for her people to turn the corner. Lupita is proof that a sad past doesn't have to cast a shadow on a sunny disposition. She was found abandoned – likely because she was deemed unfit for hunting. But what may be a flaw for hunters is her greatest gift: Lupita loves people more than anything! Her personality: People-oriented & cuddly: When it comes to cuddles, Lupita is in the front row. She enjoys being close to people and is thrilled by any treat. She gets along well with fellow animals and would surely be happy as a second dog. As a true Portuguese, she naturally has a portion of prey drive. This means: In nature, she is active and alert, but at home, she is a loyal companion. Due to her genes, cats should preferably not live in her new home. We are looking for active people for the fun-loving Lupita who enjoy walks in nature and can give her the time and love she has missed so far. Since she was likely abandoned due to a lack of hunting drive, we are looking for a home where she can simply be a family member – without performance pressure, but with a lot of security. Lupitas motto: "Who needs hunting when you can snuggle together on the couch?" Apply at www.pfotenhilfe-sachsen. Gets along with other dogs.

About Lupita

What life with Lupita looks like

Lupita is a adult dog waiting at Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. in Germany.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lupita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lupita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lupita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lupita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lupita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lupita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Notfellchen Rumänien e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lupita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
