Adopt Lupus

Mixed Breed · Female

Lupus is a large black male dog. He is about 2 years old, neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and free of fleas, and he has an EU passport. Lupus is a kind, confident male dog, suitable also as a second dog. The second dog should be at least as strong and large as Lupus. He currently lives together with a large male dog who plays a lot with him, but also clearly shows who is the leader. He immediately follows human commands and obeys them. Lupus is loving, wants to learn and is still very small inside. In terms of training, Lupus would greatly benefit from a competent owner in his new home. We are looking for a loving owner for Lupus with a house and property where he will be loved and can play to his heart's content. Since our dogs are kept in large outdoor enclosures, we cannot confirm whether Lupus is compatible with cats. Our animal welfare association does not tie up dogs!!! If a wolf has entered your heart, please contact our animal shelter. Animal Protection Association "Madonas DAB" Animal Shelter Manager Mirko Höhnisch Phone or We also speak German!

About Lupus

What life with Lupus looks like

Lupus is a adult mixed breed dog waiting at Madonas Dzīvnieku Patversme in Madona.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇱🇻Adopting from Latvia

The shelter typically completes the animal's vaccinations, microchipping, and pet passport before adoption. Specific fees and process details vary by shelter and country — confirm directly via the contact details in the sidebar.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lupus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lupus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Madonas Dzīvnieku Patversme handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lupus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lupus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Madonas Dzīvnieku Patversme will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lupus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lupus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Madonas Dzīvnieku Patversme early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lupus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (LV). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
