Adopt Lusa (w)

Mixed Breed · Unknown · Young · 2 years

Lusa (born May 2024, approx. 43 cm tall) doesn't understand the world anymore… Her beloved owner has unfortunately passed away. The person who gave her a home, safety, and love is suddenly no longer there. For the family, it was not an option to keep Lusa – and so she landed with Dana in a private animal shelter. For many dogs, this is hard. For Lusa, it's a small catastrophe. Because Lusa was an only princess her whole life, had her home, and her primary caregiver. Now she suddenly finds herself in a run, surrounded by many other dogs, without the closeness of her own human. One can see how much she suffers. She is sad, doesn't understand why her life has changed so much. Lusa is simply a wonderful girl: extremely friendly, very people-oriented, and cuddly, compatible with other dogs. She so desperately seeks the closeness of humans and just wants to belong again. A warm dog bed, loving hands, and someone who shows her that she is not alone. Lusa has lost her home – please help her find a new one. Who will give this loving soul a second chance and bring her back from the run into life? Please share so that Lusa is seen quickly. Every chance can be her new home. LUSA will be neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, and depart with Snap4DTest and EU-Pass. She will be rehomed with V. All our dogs come to 91278 Pottenstein and would also like to be picked up here. Contact: or here on fb.

Lusa (geb. About Lusa (w)

What life with Lusa (w) looks like

Lusa (w) is a small young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. in Nürnberg.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lusa (w), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lusa (w)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lusa (w) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lusa (w) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lusa (w) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lusa (w) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tiernothilfe Casa Katharina e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lusa (w) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
