CRITICAL RULES: 1. Preserve every `Lusito`, `Lusito`, `our shelter`, `this breed`, `our area` placeholder VERBATIM. Do not rename, translate, or reformat them. 2. Preserve any other proper-name-looking capitalized Portuguese words (sibling animals, shelter staff names) verbatim. 3. Output ONLY the English translation. No preamble, no explanation, no markdown, no notes. English translation: LUSITO Male, 2 months, (in principle) small size, dewormed internally and externally. Contact for responsible adoption (+351) 918570448 They are little and cute, short-legged and cute. They grow, are short-legged, with short legs and one day end up in any place, abandoned, left to their own luck. They look for a shelter, build a den among vines and tall grasses and there the female has her litter, protected from the cold rain and those who might take them. The short male stayed alert to anyone approaching. One day, someone noticed his presence. One day, someone approached and realized the abandonment and the crying babies. Protection came every day in the form of food and care so that the rain would not enter the den. As days passed quickly, the babies wanted to follow the steps of their parents and it was necessary to protect them from danger. There are three little Marias and one Lusito, the brother Snoopy was already taken in by a family with a big heart. These little ones wait for the same luck: to be taken in by someone who adopts affection. Abandoning is a crime! The law is to be taken seriously!! Adopting is an act of great kindness. Adopting should be thought about responsibly.

About Lusito

What life with Lusito looks like

Lusito is a small puppy/kitten mixed breed dog waiting at Quatro Patas e Focinhos in Portugal.

Puppies need routine, gentle socialization, and roughly two short outings a day for the first year. The first six months are the formative window — house-training, leash work, and quiet exposure to traffic, other dogs, and unfamiliar people happen now or not at all. Expect early-morning wake-ups and a few months of chewing.

🇵🇹Adopting from Portugal

Portuguese rescues coordinate extensively with European rescue networks for cross-border placements, especially for galgos and podencos. Sterilization, vaccinations, and microchip ID are standard. Adoption fees typically cover the full vet workup.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lusito, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lusito?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Quatro Patas e Focinhos handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lusito on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lusito if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Quatro Patas e Focinhos will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lusito already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lusito isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Quatro Patas e Focinhos early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lusito and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (PT). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
