Lyanna

adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! Lyanna...we had wished to give you such a wonderful life. Rest in peace! Her story: Lyanna – she has been waiting for a home almost three years and has always been overlooked! Why can no one get excited about her? Lyanna was found as a small puppy together with her mother and siblings in the mountain forest near Bistrita. At 3 years old, the beautiful female dog is now of medium size, measuring approximately 55 cm and weighing 25 kg. She has a slightly curved front paw, which is the result of rickets, a calcium deficiency during her growth period. Lyanna's mother was severely injured and could not always properly care for her puppies. However, Lyanna is fully mobile. With supplements like green-lipped mussels and perhaps some physiotherapy, improvements might still be possible. Lyanna is friendly, curious, and gets along well with all dogs. The young female dog has a lovely, fluffy, grayish-brown coat, a black snout, and cool, black eyebrow markings. A real eye-catcher, as we find! Her entire life, she has first been in the animal shelter and then in a private foster home in Romania. As a puppy, she was carefree, but because she never experienced what it's like when someone takes care of her, Lyanna is now a bit wary of people. She will take treats from your hand, but does not allow herself to be touched. Despite this, Lyanna is still young enough, and it's not too late, for her to overcome her fear of people. Time and lots of patience with her would help Lyanna become carefree again, as she was as a puppy. A dog that is initially by her side would be beneficial because she is accustomed to being with other dogs.

Ruhe in Frieden!

About Lyanna

What life with Lyanna looks like

Lyanna is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Lyanna, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Lyanna?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Lyanna on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Lyanna if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Lyanna already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Lyanna isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Lyanna and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
