Mabel

Mixed Breed Β· Female Β· Adult Β· 9 years

This beautiful girl came from a group of 30 cats and kittens trapped at Marney Road, she was only a kitten when trapped as we have her DOB as 05/08/2017. We managed to home quite a few of the kittens but Mabel would hiss and lash out when you went near her and stayed close to her feral mum so she never quite tamed up enough to be homed. Being semi feral means occasionally she lets me get close enough to take a photo. She is happy to be with the other Marney Road cats that were too feral to home and she seems very happy with her own little cat family.

About Mabel

What life with Mabel looks like

Mabel is an adult mixed breed cat waiting at Caring for Animals 2001 in United Kingdom.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction β€” every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§Adopting from United Kingdom

UK shelters work under the Pet Travel Scheme (post-Brexit, the EU pet passport is not valid; a UK Animal Health Certificate is required for travel into the EU). Most UK rescues focus on domestic placements but some work with EU partners.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mabel, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mabel?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Caring for Animals 2001 handles screening and the adoption contract directly β€” TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mabel on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mabel if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad β€” Caring for Animals 2001 will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. UK adopters: post-Brexit travel into the EU requires an Animal Health Certificate. Transport is usually a separate cost, so ask for the exact figure before you commit.
Is Mabel already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported β€” ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mabel isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work β€” that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Caring for Animals 2001 early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mabel and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (EN). Translation is imperfect β€” names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
