MAC

European Shorthair · Male · Kitten · 5 months

Mac, a shy and affectionate European cat, needs feline companionship. Mac is a very timid European cat who needs a lot of calm and gentleness to tame him. He lets himself be approached gently, especially in a reassuring small space. His character: sensitive and reserved, he needs time and patience to gain confidence. He is very greedy and can be tamed with treats. His life with others: Mac has a real need for the presence of one or more other cats, it is even essential for his balance. On the other hand, cohabitation with dogs is to be excluded. Contacts with children under 10 are to be avoided for the moment. His living environment: he can live in an apartment, an outdoor space is not essential for him. Ideal adopter profile: a calm and patient family or person, already having at least one other cat (or willing to adopt one at the same time), without a dog, and without young children, ready to offer Mac the time he needs to flourish in complete confidence. Do you have the heart, patience, and already a feline companion at home? To learn more about Mac and arrange a meeting, please contact us ONLY by phone at 02 204 49 50. Adoption is only possible with a "permit to keep an animal" for people domiciled in the Walloon Region.

About MAC

What life with MAC looks like

MAC is a puppy/kitten european shorthair cat waiting at Help Animals in Brussels.

Kittens are tiny chaos engines for about six months and then mellow rapidly. They need two scheduled feedings, a litter box per cat plus one extra, and somewhere high to climb. Spay/neuter happens around six months — most shelters arrange this before adoption.

🇧🇪Adopting from Belgium

Belgian shelters operate under regional law (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels each have their own rules). All adoptions include the Eurochip, vaccinations, and a stewardship contract. Several Flemish shelters partner with Dutch and German rescue networks.

Frequently asked

Adopting MAC, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about MAC?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Help Animals handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw MAC on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt MAC if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Help Animals will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is MAC already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if MAC isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Help Animals early rather than rehoming privately; they know MAC and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
