adoption requirements adoption process Now request this animal! adoption requirements adoption process Now request this dog! Our loving Madita is approximately 3 years old, about 55 – 60 cm tall, and weighs between 35 and 40 kg. Despite everything she has experienced, she is friendly, gentle, and affectionate. A true heart dog. Madita was abandoned grandly alone in the forest and simply left to her own devices. Fortunately, she was found by Tina, who did not look away. Tina took the four puppies with her, which have all been rehomed. However, the mother still lives in the forest, but is fed and cared for daily by Tina. Madita shows great affection towards people and is compatible with other dogs. Despite her difficult fate, she is gentle, sweet, and trusting. She simply has a huge heart. Whether Madita has ever lived in a house, we do not know. Perhaps the leash manners and house cleanliness, as well as the behavioral rules for a well-behaved house dog, are new to her. But we are sure that Madita will learn them quickly. This brave female dog has more than earned the right to finally arrive in safety. We cannot rule out that Madita has herding qualities. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced home for her that either already has experience with these qualities or is willing to deal with them and above all provides the optimal conditions. Herding dogs are not city dogs. They should live more in the countryside, a garden would be great, and little or no visitors or changing people. They are also not suitable for taking to the office. Herding dogs bring wonderful qualities. People who already have experience with herding dogs do not want any other breeds, as they, despite their thick skulls, are very loyal and faithful companions. Madita travels neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and flea-treated with an EU pet passport to her new home. Who shows her that there are also people who stay? Many thanks Christine P.! You gave Madita her name! A big thank you also goes to Melanie H., who took on a monthly sponsorship for Madita. As of: 14.11.

Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt dieses Tier anfragen! Vermittlungsvoraussetzungen Vermittlungsablauf Jetzt diesen Hund anfragen! About Madita

What life with Madita looks like

Madita is a large young adult mixed breed dog waiting at Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. in München.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Madita, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Madita?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Madita on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Madita if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Madita already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Madita isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Ein Herz für Streuner e.V. early rather than rehoming privately; they know Madita and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
