Magnus

Mixed Breed · Male · Senior · 11 years

A request for help came from Tetra, where an animal lover's seriously ill dogs, totaling 19, had their care become uncertain. Thanks to quick logistics, we were able to empty a grassy kennel, allowing us to take in Magnus and Yama. After their arrival, it became clear that both were unsocialized, feared the sight of people, and were quite neglected. We immediately started working with them. Magnus is more difficult to approach, but he's kind of a real guy...we are trying to get close to his soul through his stomach. There's no malice in him, he's simply confused and doesn't know what we want. With consistent work, he can become a miracle dog. We believe in him - as we have many times before - that we will find Magnus's Angel, not the Noé Animal Shelter be the last stop in his life. While we wait for his loving family, he will get everything from us, because he has not been exposed to much stimulation, and does not even know what a real dog's life is! He is vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered, and is available for adoption. Attention: the dog is located at the Noé Animal Shelter's Szergei branch. You can inquire about him at our address!

Figyelem a kutya a NOÉ Állatotthon szergényi telephelyén található. About Magnus

What life with Magnus looks like

Magnus is a small senior mixed breed dog waiting at Noé Állatotthon in Budapest.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

Note from the shelter: Unsocialized, fearful of humans, requires patient rehabilitation work

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Magnus, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Magnus?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Noé Állatotthon handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Magnus on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Magnus if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Noé Állatotthon will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Magnus already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Magnus isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Noé Állatotthon early rather than rehoming privately; they know Magnus and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
