I am a big girl with a rabbit's heart. But it probably can't be otherwise. I was born in Ukraine during bomb explosions. In my first month of life, the world was an unsafe place to live. I learned to protect myself and to fear. I came to Lithuania when I was a teenager. At first, I was in another shelter, where there were many like me, and there wasn't enough time and opportunities for everyone to take care of me individually. That's how I grew up fearing everything and everyone. I only made a connection with one volunteer who used to come to see me. She would take me for walks, because I trusted her so much. Now I have that trust only with one staff member. In the mornings, I jump with joy when she comes. It shows that with my people, I can be friendly and devoted. It just takes someone who will show me that my world is safe beside them.

Aš esu didelė mergytė su zuikio širdele. Bet kitaip turbūt ir negali būti. Gimiau Ukrainoje griaudint bomboms. Pirmais mano gyvenimo mėnesiais pasaulis buvo nesaugi vieta gyventi. Mokiausi saugotis ir bijoti. Į Lietuvą atvažiavau būdama paaugliukė. Iš pradžių patekau į kitą prieglaudą, kur buvo daug tokių kaip aš, ir nebuvo tiek daug laiko ir galimybių visiems manimi atskirai užsiimti. Taip ir išaugau bijodama visko ir visų. Ryšį užmezgiau tik su viena savanore, kuri atvažiuodavo pas mane. Ji mane vedžiodavosi palaidą, nes aš taip ja pasitikėjau. Dabar tokį pasitikėjimą turiu vienai darbuotojai. Rytais šoku iš džiaugsmo, kai ji ateina. Tai rodo, kad su savo žmonėmis aš galiu būti draugiška ir atsidavusi. Tereikia kažko, kas parodytų, kad šalia jo mano pasaulis yra saugus. ____________________________________
