Maio has been with us at our shelter since March 2026. I still don’t know how to find people, to be honest, because they scare me a lot right now! If you see me, it’s very likely that I’ll just be a fleeting shadow or hide and become completely still. Most of the time, I’m still very panicky, even though I don’t want to be. I simply need a lot, a lot of time to understand that no one will harm me. I’m looking for a quiet home where no one expects anything from me. A place where I can just be without pressure. Patience is the most important thing for me – perhaps more than for many other cats. Trust grows in me very slowly… but I believe it can grow. Unfortunately, I’m FIV-positive. This is an immune weakness virus that’s harmless to people and other animal species but can be passed on to other cats. To protect me and other cats, I wish for a home in a suitable apartment with at least 80 qm and a secured balcony or an outdoor run so I can still enjoy sun and fresh air. I originally came from outdoors, and I’ll miss being able to roam around… With another, loving, and quiet cat who is also FIV-positive, I could imagine a home for myself. Maybe a confident cat friend could even help me become braver. I promise nothing – except that I need time. A lot of time. And patience. But maybe… just maybe, I’ll find the courage one day to come out of my hiding place and show you who I really am! Maio ist seit März 2026 bei uns im Tierheim. Aus der Ich weiß noch nicht so genau, wie ich Menschen finden soll. Denn ehrlich gesagt, machen sie mir im Moment noch ziemlich Angst! Wenn du mich siehst, ist es sehr wahrscheinlich, dass ich nur als vorbeihuschender Schatten zu sehen bin oder mich verstecke und ganz still werde. Meistens bin ich noch sehr panisch, obwohl ich das gar nicht sein möchte. Ich brauche einfach sehr, sehr viel Zeit, um zu verstehen, dass mir niemand etwas tut. Ich suche ein Zuhause, das ruhig ist und in dem man nichts von mir erwartet. Ein Ort, an dem ich einfach sein darf, ohne Druck. Geduld ist für mich das allerwichtigste – vielleicht mehr als bei vielen anderen Katzen. Vertrauen wächst bei mir nur ganz langsam … aber ich glaube, es kann wachsen. Leider bin ich FIV-positiv. Das ist ein Immunschwäche-Virus, dass für Menschen und andere Tierarten völlig ungefährlich ist, aber auf andere Katzen ungünstigerweise übertragen werden kann. Um mich und anderen Katzen also zu schützen, wünsche ich mir ein Zuhause in reiner Wohnungshaltung, mit mindestens 80 qm und einem gesicherten Balkon oder einem Außengehege, damit ich trotzdem Sonne und frische Luft genießen kann. Ich komme nämlich ursprünglich von draußen und daher werde ich das sehr vermissen, durch die Gegend zu streifen … Mit einer anderen, lieben und ruhigen Katze, die ebenfalls FIV-positiv ist, könnte ich mir mein Zuhause gut vorstellen. Vielleicht hilft mir ein souveräner Katzenfreund sogar dabei, mutiger zu werden. Ich verspreche nichts – außer, dass ich Zeit brauche. Sehr viel Zeit. Und Geduld. Aber vielleicht … ganz vielleicht, werde ich eines Tages den Mut finden, aus meinem Versteck zu kommen und dir zu zeigen, wer ich wirklich bin!
