Adopt Mákos

Mixed Breed · Female

Stray dog. Homeless, without food, tied to a fence. This is Hungary today, in 2025. After the shocking story of Boldizsár (who was supposed to be part of the family dinner), it's hard to be surprised by anything... But let's return to Mákos, who had some luck, was found, and came to us with the hope of a better life. Mákos is a small female dog, about two years old, roughly 10 kg. Kind, her gaze attentive, a little energetic, always turning towards new experiences. She gets along well with other dogs and happily accepts human contact - she perks up from just a petting. All she needs now is a real home where she can finally live safely and belong to someone. If this kind little black-and-white pup touched your heart, meet her at our open days on Saturdays in Csevhárazsont, Pest county.

About Mákos

What life with Mákos looks like

Mákos is a small adult mixed breed dog waiting at Luca Kutyamenedék in Hungary.

An adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. Two reasonable walks a day plus play time is usually enough. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇭🇺Adopting from Hungary

Hungarian shelters operate at high capacity given the country's stray population. Animals leave sterilized, chipped, and with a passport. Many shelters coordinate transport to Germany, Austria, and the Nordics.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mákos, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mákos?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Luca Kutyamenedék handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mákos on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mákos if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Luca Kutyamenedék will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mákos already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mákos isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Luca Kutyamenedék early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mákos and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (HU). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
