Adopt Maks (Макс)

Staffordshire Bull Terrier · Male · Young · 2 years

MAX. Unbelievable beauty. There is definitely something of a staff in him. This boy was just thrown out of a car. He ran near people for a long time, tried to get close, to find someone who would not chase him away. But they chased him. They threw stones at him. Children hurled sticks. And so, he became aggressive towards people - because people had caused him pain. Then Max was fed near the apartment building. Someone brought him food, but many people were against it. They chased him again, threw stones at him, shouted. And he began to show aggression - not because he is "bad", but because he was constantly hurt. Once they tried to poison him. They saved him. Another time - they tried to poison him again. Then we decided: enough. We took him and promised to find a family that will understand him and give him peace and love. Max is a special boy. He does not like when someone invades his personal space. He may bite slightly, but not painfully - rather as a warning. You can find a common language with him, as we did: with understanding, patience and kindness. He is gentle. He loves toys, especially balls. Max is afraid of explosions, generators, thunder - all loud sounds, because he has been through too much.

About Maks (Макс)

What life with Maks (Макс) looks like

Maks (Макс) is a large young adult staffordshire bull terrier dog waiting at Happy Paw Dnipro in Ukraine.

An young adult dog fits most household rhythms once the first couple of weeks of adjustment pass. A larger dog like this one needs daily off-leash time when possible — a fenced yard or regular access to safe walking trails. Plan a "decompression fortnight" — quiet routine, no visitors, no off-leash adventures — to let them settle.

🇺🇦Adopting from Ukraine

Frequently asked

Adopting Maks (Макс), answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Maks (Макс)?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Happy Paw Dnipro handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Maks (Макс) on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Maks (Макс) if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Happy Paw Dnipro will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Maks (Макс) already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Maks (Макс) isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Happy Paw Dnipro early rather than rehoming privately; they know Maks (Макс) and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (UK). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
