Mango

Mixed Breed · Male · Adult · 4 years

Mango was trapped at the end of November 2023 with four other cats on a dangerous industrial site in Chilly-Mazarin (91). He is a real survivor because we regularly find cat corpses in this area. Indeed, considered undesirable by some, cats are victims of poisoning. Staples are also mixed into their food, causing terrible suffering to those who ingest them: stomach or intestinal perforations and mouth injuries causing infections... Placed in a foster home, Mango unfortunately did not progress in his ability to communicate with humans: despite the family's kindness, he remained cowering under the toilet, fleeing whenever possible. Taking advantage of a small lapse in the family's vigilance, Mango escaped, going through the balcony on the first floor. However, he had the courtesy to make sure his foster family knew about his escape, staying in the garden long enough to be seen before running away. Searched for a month, Mango found refuge in a house where he can walk in the garden without being bothered, the two cats of this family accepting his presence. He has found his balance: access to a bowl of dry food or pâté and shelter when the weather turns bad. He progresses at his own pace, occasionally talking with his new human friend, but always from a distance. Mango needs to remain free as the air. He is looking for a kind human who accepts to feed him without expecting too much "cuddle", just distant exchanges... He will therefore absolutely need access to the outside, preferably a garden. Mango does not like being enclosed, he needs to go out, to be able to walk and come back as he pleases: he is independent! He is still afraid of humans (probably because of his past...) but he does not attack, he prefers to flee. However, he knows that not all humans are harmful: as long as he is not cornered, he accepts to stay a little to chat, but from a reasonable distance for now. In terms of vaccinations, spayed, identified and tested negative for FIV / FELV.

About Mango

What life with Mango looks like

Mango is a adult mixed breed cat waiting at La Voie Féline in la voie feline.

An adult cat usually shows their personality within a week. Give them a quiet room with everything they need (food, water, litter, hiding spot) and let them choose when to explore. Don't force interaction — every cat decides for themselves when a new home counts as home.

🇫🇷Adopting from France

French refuges follow the SPA framework: adopters sign a cession contract that includes sterilization, vaccinations, microchip identification, and rabies passport. Fees are typically €150–€300. Many refuges work with rescue transport partners for cross-border placements.

Frequently asked

Adopting Mango, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Mango?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. La Voie Féline handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Mango on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Mango if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — La Voie Féline will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Mango already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most cats on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Mango isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with La Voie Féline early rather than rehoming privately; they know Mango and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (FR). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
