Adopt Manni

Unknown · Senior · 10 years

Manni currently lives on a foster home. We are seeking sponsors; our Manni receives special food, and we appreciate any financial support. Manni is a small, energetic terrier who is currently in urgent need of a home or an experienced foster home. The shelter environment visibly overloads him: he finds it hard to settle down, displays a high level of excitement, and tends to get emotionally involved in situations, from which he then cannot extricate himself alone. Even at 11 years old, Manni still brings a fair amount of terrier temperament. He is active, curious, and full of energy – a "little rascal" who wants to experience and shape the world. When taken out of the kennel, he transforms: playful, friendly, open to affection, and very interested in his surroundings. He particularly enjoys engaging in search games or head work. At the same time, it is difficult for him to find a peaceful state independently, which is why he relies on clear, structuring guidance. Once given this security, he is very cooperative and grateful. Due to his age, his eyesight is gradually declining, and his hearing does not function optimally either. Additionally, he requires a liver-friendly diet as his liver values are outside the normal range. For Manni, we are therefore seeking a quiet, ideally terrier-experienced home with few stimuli, where he is both mentally and physically challenged – but above all, where he learns to settle down.

About Manni

What life with Manni looks like

Manni is a medium-sized senior dog waiting at Tierheim Ettlingen in Ettlingen.

Senior dogs settle in faster than younger ones. They want a soft bed, predictable meals, and short, sniff-heavy walks rather than runs. Many senior rescues bond deeply within weeks because they understand exactly how good a stable home is. Expect occasional vet visits for joint or dental care.

🇩🇪Adopting from Germany

German rescues typically require an in-person home visit (Vorkontrolle) or detailed video home check before approving adoption. Animals leave the shelter sterilized, microchipped, and with a valid EU pet passport. Adoption fees usually fall between €250 and €450, covering veterinary preparation.

Frequently asked

Adopting Manni, answered.

How do I contact the shelter about Manni?
Use the phone, email, or website link in the sidebar of this page. Tierheim Ettlingen handles screening and the adoption contract directly — TailHarbor doesn't broker the conversation. When you reach out, mention you saw Manni on TailHarbor so they know which animal you're asking about.
Can I adopt Manni if I live in another country?
Yes, in most cases. Rescues across Europe routinely place animals abroad — Tierheim Ettlingen will tell you what they need (EU pet passport, rabies titer, transport coordination) and whether they handle transport themselves or refer you to a partner. Plan for an extra €100–€350 in transport costs depending on distance.
Is Manni already vetted, vaccinated, and chipped?
Most dogs on TailHarbor leave their shelter with sterilization, current vaccinations, microchip ID, and an EU pet passport included in the adoption fee. The vet status on this page reflects what the shelter has reported — ask them directly if you need details on specific vaccines, recent bloodwork, or chronic conditions.
What happens if Manni isn't the right fit?
Every reputable rescue accepts an animal back if the adoption genuinely doesn't work — that's part of the standard contract. Talk it through with Tierheim Ettlingen early rather than rehoming privately; they know Manni and can place them more successfully than a second-hand listing can.
Why does the description sometimes read awkwardly?
TailHarbor translates shelter descriptions into English from the source language (DE). Translation is imperfect — names of streets, donors, and shelter-specific terms occasionally slip through unidiomatically. For the cleanest read, click the source link to see the shelter's original page.
